On this previously unreleased album, we find again this familiar preoccupation of Period Three to work within a limited set of parameters -- here a single software, Rebirth, emulating diverse Roland drum machines -- with the objective of making these restrictions invisible to the listener. He succeeds easily, producing a wide array of sombre and haunting textures.

This odds-and-ends collection presents many of Eucci's long lost web singles from before the iPod era, including tracks from his untitled Tiln debut, various seasonal singles from 2000-2001, miscellaneous one-off projects, not to mention a couple of unreleased tracks from the same period. The whole thing has been remastered & resequenced by the composer for your greater listening satisfaction. So, Eucci fans rejoice! You can finally hear this glorious stuff again, in beautiful stereo. * For...

Recorded in early 1999, during Napalm Jazz's most prolific period, this is the first solo project by A_dontigny. Executed live on radio as a single improvisation using three turntables, prepared vinyls and tapes. Philémon makes a guest appearance on track two.

No Type’s Annexe wing continues its mission by recovering another forgotten pearl, this time Infoslut's Infohearts mini-album that was originally released on Books on Tape’s lamented netlabel, Subverseco. This is most likely one of the only currently unavailable releases from Infoslut, AKA The Twombley Spiders, AKA Matrix Assimilation, AKA Influenza, real name Eryk Salvaggio. Just to be nice, we’ve added three unreleased (or so) tracks from the same era. The whole thing sounds just as...

Recorded in March 2000, Spick Up is an earlier phase in Magali Babin's work with prepared pickups and household ustensils. The recording is raw but the six tracks are filled with finesse and originality.

The first encounter of radical turntablist Martin Tétreault with the Napalm Jazz posse turned into an alcoholic mayhem of scratches, digital noise, drunken rap and obvious borrowings from Prince, Black Sabbath, Slayer and many many more... Live at Montreal's Casa del Popolo, December 2001.

That was October 21, 2006. Nuthre was at Open Space, in Victoria (British Columbia), where he presented a few pieces in the spirit of his recent mini-album, Bloops For Alice [nt096]. We suspect that this three-part live set won’t resolve the famous "genius or madman?" quarrel, but nonetheless, you’re likely to spend a good time in Nuthre’s company, provided you have an open mind and are not averse to the least conventional of electronic explorations... * For full artwork and...

Gathered at the Avatar studios in 2001, Erick D'Orion, Guillaume Theroux-Rancourt (aka Le Chien borgne) and James Schidlowsky gave life to the Trio Saccacomie. On all 6 tracks of this album, Theroux-Rancourt's infra bass sounds, Schidlowsky's radio interferences and D'Orion's distorted assaults blend perfectly. Truly, an aesthetics of deforestation.

In addition to the tracks from the Free transgénique album and several live recordings, the Napalm Jazz collective has also produced a number of “home recordings” that were never released until now. A_dontigny has mixed, just for you, various sessions featuring the original Napalm Jazz kernel, but also morceaux_de_machines, L’île de béton as well as duos of A_dontigny and Philémon. Just like a decadent radio broadcast from a broken down satellite.

Originally, Thistles 01 is the first installement of four very limited self-released albums. Distinct from David Turgeon's compositions of the same period under the name Period Three, these pieces have a freer development and avoid some of the conceptual limitations usually found in Period Three and Camp. In these studies in digital distortion, the brute textures are balanced by savvy variations in density and shades.

Once again No Type: Annexe unveils the unexplored side of an artist, this time with Galerie Stratique’s unreleased tracks from his second and much acclaimed album Horizzzons (2003). Adieu IDM (outtakes d’Horizzzons) takes you through translations of etheral charm, into a blurred and intimate voyage.

Sometime in 2001, just after the release of his Raum… Musik CD "Amanecer", Dick Richards was a guest live performer at the First Avenue Club in Minneapolis, where he did what DJ slang refers to as a "killer set". This set was available for some time on notype.com but, for server related reasons, it eventually disappeared. So here it is again, as good as it ever was, which only confirms what we already knew: in a universe of copycats, posers & wannabes, Dick Richards...

Sam Shalabi brought an unsuspected mood to the night, using mostly electronics. Philémon's use of an amplified metal box, added to A_dontigny's distorted cd skipping and Érick Dorion's signature audiomulch cataclysm, blended Shalabi's melancholic bleeps to form a dense and warm tapestry of noise. Live at the Casa del Popolo, April 2002.

With special guests Érick Dorion (computer), Philémon (cd players, turntables) and James Schidlowsky (prepared tapes, electronics, effects).
